Capital power is the kind of propaganda. Don’t be fooled by the bull shit they’re unveiling here. Some actual facts that they fail to mention in their green propaganda: 1. Other utilities got off coal 2 years ago. they’re late to the party 2. Capital power and their infinite retardation repowered genesee 1/2 and the new output is suppose to be 716mw per unit pair. The AESO maximum size for a single unit is 466MW. They tried to offset this With a large battery bank. The AESO rejected that. Sowhen the units are up, the units can run at 466mw max, severely derated 3. Carbon capture on genesee 1/2: this is a 2.3 billion plus project that is not proven with natural gas. Capital power is hoping for government funding for this massive bill but since the carbon is being used by enbridge, there are no gov grants. Have fun building your white elephant you idiots! Share holders better sell before the bottom falls oit

Direct air capture is really a stupid idea. The driving force of 400 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere is so low it takes immense energy to accomplish this. The only sensible capture of CO2 is at the point of generation, i.e. coal and natural gas fired power plants. Here, the driving force is 200,000 ppm. Why wait until it gets diluted in the atmosphere before capturing it? Really dumb. And, I really question if there is enough zero carbon emission energy sources available for carbon capture to make it net negative. There's still the question of what do with it. Mineralization at your small scale may work, but not at the large scales that are actually needed to make a difference. Far better off planting trees and reforestation. But, hey, this all sounds good to the uninformed public and politicians.

Transporting and storing cheap and abundant renewable energy is best done with E-fuels. Power lines also have giant losses (more than 50% from Sahara to Europe) in addition to needing giant and super expensive batteries and having giant political/upkeep costs.
